Performance Evaluation of Reservoir Computing in Cultured Neural Systems Using a Spiking Neuron Model

(in English) The cultured nervous system can be regarded as a physical reservoir. Intracellular Ca2+ ion concentration is measured from the physical reservoir of the cultured nervous system using calcium imaging. Its dynamics can be read out and may lead to various types of information processing. In this study, we constructed a mathematical model of the cultured nervous system and analyzed the effect of the pattern of neuronal connections on a time series generation task. This analysis suggests that the coupling probability between neurons has a significant influence on the performance of time series generation.
