Acoustic Echo and Noise Canceller Based on Minimization of Shared-Error Signal

(in English) This paper proposes a new acoustic echo and noise canceller (AENC) based on minimizing a shared error signal. The conventional AENC utilizes an acoustic echo canceller (AEC) based on a frequency-domain block normalized least mean square (FBNLMS) algorithm and a noise suppressor (NS) based on a Wiener filter. Since their optimization methods differ from each other, it is difficult to simultaneously optimize the AEC and NS in the conventional AENC. To solve this problem, the proposed AENC consists of the AEC and adaptive noise canceller (ANC), which are realized by time-domain adaptive digital filters (ADFs). Both the AEC and ANC are based on the minimizing the instantaneous square error signal for optimization of the ADFs. Also, the AEC and ANC share the same error signal to update their ADFs. Then, the AEC and ANC can be optimized simultaneously. By minimizing the shared error signal, the shared-error NLMS (SENLMS) algorithm is derived in the proposed AENC and used to update the AEC and ANC. The computer simulation results show that the proposed AENC achieves the 40 dB improvement of the noise reduction and the 20 dB improvement of the echo reduction.
