In order to evaluate the accuracy of biometric systems, it is necessary to collect biometric samples from a large number of subjects. The cost of building and maintaining such a large-scale database is dramatically increasing along with the huge demand of strict and appropriate PII protection and management from the society. In this study, the feasibility of using artificially generated images for biometric accuracy evaluation is discussed. The requirements and caveats for fair evaluations are also proposed aiming to be included in the future relevant international standards. In light of recent biometric trend, facial biometrics has been chosen as a target modality in this paper. |
