[Invited Lecture] Technology vision towards Beyond 5G and Probabilistic Digital-Twin
Shimonishi Hideyuki (Osaka University) SR2022-81
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In the Beyond 5G/6G era, digital transformation will further accelerate, and everything in the real world will be digitized and deeply integrated in the virtual world. In this presentation, we present our vision towards a new society that Beyond 5G will shape in 2030, from the perspective of going beyond "people, space, and time”. As the evolution of telecommunication technologies aimed at such a society, we will discuss three points: ultra-realistic communication between people and objects beyond space, and the expansion of digital twin and cyber-physical systems, and seamless coverage everywhere on the planet, and describe our technological vision for the realization of such a society.
Then, we discuss probabilistic digital twin, which is the foundation for highly digitizing the uncertain real world and merging it with the virtual world toward the fusion of the real world and the virtual world in the Beyond 5G era. The probabilistic digital twin expresses the digital twin as probabilistic information, thereby connecting the real world and the virtual world while allowing for errors in sensing data for recognizing the real world and uncertainty in recognizing and controlling the real world. This will promote safe and efficient coexistence and collaboration between humans and robots by, for example, recognizing identification and location of robots, humans and obstacles with their probability distributions, and controlling robots while probabilistically analyzing the risk of collisions between robots and humans with such probabilistic information. This will promote safe and efficient coexistence and collaboration between humans and robots. Similarly, by probabilistically estimating the radio wave status map for communication, it is thought to be possible, for example, to calculate a path with the highest probability of receiving the most stable radio wave for a robot that is remotely controlled by wireless communication.
