A Study on Wi-Fi Localization using CSI Toward Multiple APs and CNN

(in English) A method for estimating the location of a station (STA) in an indoor environment has been proposed, which utilizes Wi-Fi Channel State Information (CSI) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN). In this method, highly accurate localization is achieved by inputting the acquired CSI into the CNN as image information, however, if the propagation environment changes between the training phase and estimation phase, its accuracy largely deteriorates.
In order to address this problem, in this paper, we focus on the localization method exploiting multiple Access Points (APs). The exploitation of multiple APs leads to a spatial diversity, which has a potential to provide robust localization against changes in the propagation environment over training and estimation phases. In this paper, we investigate the accuracy of localization using Wi-Fi CSI and CNN for multiple APs in an indoor environment through experiments. Especially, we introduce different methods to integrate the estimation result of each AP with different weights considering their uncertainty, and verify the effectiveness of each method on improving the localization error.
