Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This paper aims to develop a mechanism that adaptively adjusts the sensing frequency in response to changes in environmental noise. This noise is the unintended sound or vibration around us, and our proposed mechanism increase the sensing frequency when changes in the noise become large. We develop this mechanism on the basis of a pulse-coupled oscillator model and apply it to a smartphone-based sensing system for platoon driving, in which a vehicle effectively monitors its preceding vehicle in accordance with the environmental noise measured by the preceding vehicle. In the evaluation scenario, the smartphone on the preceding vehicle measures the vehicle's vibration excited from the road surface, converts it into a pulse wave and send it to the smartphone on the following vehicle. We confirm that the following smartphone synchronizes with the preceding one when it processes the pulse wave by using a sine function.
