The purpose of this study was to develop an arm-supporting mechanism that enables a patient with physical disabilities to bathe alone in order to protect their privacy when they take a bath at home. The basic principle of this research is based on a tool called a universal hook, which has been used since ancient times in Japan to adjust the distance between the fire and the pot to control the heat. An upper body motion and an arm supporting mechanism for users with limited muscle strength was designed and confirmed its function using CAD. In addition, we fabricated the CAD model using a 3D printer and tested its operation. |
