Object Extraction Training System Using Recipes as Target Process
Daiki Maeda, Kota Kunori, Tomoko Kojiri (Kansai Univ) ET2022-62
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Object-oriented programming requires programmers to design classes by identifying objects from given use cases. To identify the objects, we decompose the process specified in the use case into smaller subprocesses and identify the things that are responsible for them as objects. However, it is difficult for beginners to imagine things that do not physically exist from the process. In this study, we propose a training method to identify objects using recipes that are decomposed into small subprocesses of kitchenwares. We also propose a system that assists users in extracting appropriate kitchenwares from recipes. Kitchenwares are usually not explicitly mentioned in the recipes, but are recognizable as part of the cooking scene. In order to train to extract the objects that users can imagine in the scene, the training system asks the user to identify the object from the recipe and, at the same time, to draw the cooking scene. Then, by having them to compare the results, it gives awareness for the missing objects.
