Development of a Gaming Instructional Material Based on the New Backward Design Method to Improve Exploration Activities in Science

(in English) The purpose of Period for Integrated Studies (PIS) at high school level has not yet been achieved. In order to improve this situation, the New Backward Design Method that prompts teachers to design a curriculum in the following order: activities of PIS -> exploration activities in each subject -> year/unit instructional plan of regular classes in the subject was proposed. This study developed the virtual lesson game for training student teachers to make an appropriate year/unit instruction plan that includes both exploration activities and regular classes. To verify the effect of the game, a practical lesson for student teachers was conducted. It was suggested that the game was more effective in teaching this method than to provide student teachers with an occasion.to play a gaming instructional material for learners.
