A Consideration of Logfile Automatic Detection for Digital Forensics using Machine Learning

(in English) In log collection for digital forensics, it is difficult to automatically detects logs in text file format because they do not have headers and there are many text files other than logs in a PC. So, we propose a system that uses machine learning to automatically detects log files. Prototype system is automatically detect log files from text files using machine learning. In this method, two bytes are considered as one word in the binary data of a file, and the discrimination is based on document similarity. We have developed four different systems using FastText, Naive Bayes, Random Forest, and SVM for this application. In addition, we examined the effectiveness of these methods for Windows files.
