Effects of road width changes on driving in a driving simulator

(in English) For appropriate car navigation system, it is necessary to model the level of driving difficulty according to the road geometry. In our previous studies, we have conducted experiments to model the difficulty of driving focusing on the angle and radius of curves. Incidentally, road width changes such as lane reduction and width reduction make it difficult to drive and pass through. Therefore, in this study, we designed courses narrowing or widening and conducted experiments on a driving simulator. Also, we investigated how road width changes affect driving difficulty. As a result, the changes in road width are appeared to influence driving difficulty, and the degree of the influence can be estimated by using models on steering law.
