Autonomous Action Strategy Based on Assumed Risk Assessment for Multi-UAV Cooperated Unmanned Disaster Search and Rescue

(in English) Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) are rapidly gaining popularity in modern society and studies for search and rescue (SAR) missions using autonomous UAVs in disaster situations have been recently discussed.
In disaster situations, it is important to search the entire disaster area as quickly as possible and rescue survivors once they are found during the search since the lifetime of survivors is limited.
In this paper, we propose an autonomous action strategy named PRISK for planning prioritized flight paths of UAVs, which are generated from a disaster risk value calculated by the estimated damage of the disaster, to perform SAR missions efficiently and effectively in disaster situations.
In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed strategy from the viewpoint of the rescue rate and the rescue time, we conducted simulation experiments and compared the performance with three conventional autonomous action strategies.
The simulation results clarify that the proposed strategy improves the rescue rate and has an adequate distribution of rescue time.
