We propose Hap'n'Roll, which is a shape presentation device corresponding to facing grasp and grip. Hap'n'Roll is capable of presenting tactile sensations for objects of various shapes and sizes compared to devices in previous research. It provides three functions. First, the thickness around the shaft touched by the user changes from 10mm to 40mm according to the number of turns of the sheet. Second, the size of the presented object can be changed up to 100 mm by restraining the finger with a hole in the sheet. Third, the shape of the presented object can be changed by moving different shaped holes placed on the sheet to the fingertip. By reproducing objects of various shapes and sizes with these functions, we aim to improve the realism of VR experiences and the operability of virtual objects. As an initial stage of the research, we conducted experiments to evaluate the reproducibility of the shape and size of the prototype device. As a result, it was shown that Hap'n'Roll could reproduce at least 4 types of shapes and 3 types of sizes with high accuracy. |
