NOMA-HARQ with Adaptive Termination Based on Early Decision Using Channel State Information for URLLC

(in English) This paper extends our previously reported a repetition-based low-latency non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA)- hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) method with adaptive termination for downlink ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC) to adaptively terminate packet transmissions early using early acknowledgement (ACK) feedback based on the channel state information (CSI) obtained before channel decoding. In the proposed method, a user terminal calculates the metric based on the CSI obtained before channel coding to determine whether it performs early ACK feedback and feeds back ACK to the base station without waiting for the channel decoding results based on the metric threshold judgement result. We set the threshold that suppresses an increase in a packet error rate (PER) due to erroneous early ACK feedback. The proposed method using the suitable threshold can reduce throughput degradation because it reduces unnecessary retransmissions compared to conventional ACK feedback while minimizing the increase in PER. Computer simulations show that the proposed method can increase throughput while achieving a PER nearly equivalent to that without early ACK feedback.
