Climate change due to global warming is a global social issue, and decarbonization is a pressing need. On the other hand, the explosion of data generated and consumed by digitization is expected to increase the power consumption of data centers (DCs) that support it. The amount of renewable energy supplied to DCs and the power consumption of DCs are greatly affected by the location of DCs and the applications running in DCs, respectively. Therefore, it is necessary to consider multiple indicators such as the initial cost and the amount of renewable energy to be utilized at the design phase to determine the location of the DC and the applications to run on it. Therefore, we proposed a multi-objective optimization method for DC placement and application selection using a metaheuristic. Compared to existing methods, the proposed method is expected to improve ROI by 14.0%. |
