Automotive radar used in anti-collision systems is designed to detect obstacles in front of the vehicle. By installing an element with a fixed pincer beam in the elevation direction, it has been possible to achieve gain for distant vehicles and to reduce unwanted irradiation in other vertical directions. However, false detection of targets with a certain height has become a problem. For such targets, FLSAR (Forward Looking Synthetic Aperture Radar) can be applied to a series of data during driving to estimate the height of the target. However, FLSAR detects in the end-fire direction, which significantly reduces the angular resolution, and the detection accuracy depends on the accuracy of the vehicle velocity. Therefore, we proposed a method for estimating target height and vehicle velocity based on the concept of SAR. In this paper, we show the practicality of FLSAR and the height estimation of the proposed method. |
