IBAD c-axis parallel ZnO thin films for nonlinear optical device applications

(in English) Wurtzite crystals (such as ZnO and AlN) are attractive for applications in laser wavelength conversion devices using nonlinear optical effects. In order to obtain large harmonic conversion efficiency, the c-axis of the ZnO and AlN thin films need to be grown parallel to the substrate. The three dimensional crystalline orientations were examined by XRD pole figure.As the results, c-axis parallel growth in the ZnO and AlN thin films were observed. XRD pole figure revealed that the c-axis in the in-plane direction corresponds to the ion beam incident direction.
