We want to analyze the current interruption phenomenon of electric contacts, that accompanies melting and arc discharge, in a unified and comprehensive manner using an electric circuit. We are studying transient phenomena at contact points. In the previous paper, we proposed the hypothesis that partial melting occurs due to current concentration at the metal contact area, and a solid/liquid interface occurs on the electrode surface, forming an electric double layer. We also reported the experimental results confirmed the hypothesis. In this paper, we propose an additional hypothetical model in which electrons are emitted from the cathode and ions are emitted from the anode due to the voltage rise in the electric double layer, and we report the results of confirming the model through experiments. |
