In response to the spread of telework and web conferencing, and the growing need to value private time and space, the company aims to create the ultimate private acoustic space that delivers only the "sounds you want to hear" and prevents the delivery of "sounds you do not want to hear or do not want to hear".
As part of this effort, NTT has researched and developed new earphones that hold sound in a very small space, and in November 2022, NTT Sonority, NTT's first acoustic business, began selling open-ear earphones using this technology. These open-ear earphones, which are not inserted into the ear, minimize sound leakage and enable users to comfortably enjoy their own acoustic space while communicating with those around them. Furthermore, using these open-ear earphones, research and development of acoustic XR, in which sounds in real space and virtual space are merged without discomfort, is being promoted. |
