The interaction between the urban transportation environment and human mobility is a complex phenomenon, and solving the problem of optimizing the efficiency of mobility within a city is not an easy task. The authors study the application of multi-agent social simulation (MASS) to assist in the investigation of measures to improve mobility difficulties that occur within a city. In this paper, we develop an environment for analyzing vehicle behavior and evaluating the impact on traffic flow when a complex traffic measure combining multiple measures is implemented, and attempt to find an approximate solution for the combination of measures using a Genetic Algorithm. Specifically, we target the area around JR Minami-Kusatsu station, and show that it is possible to study how to improve the traffic around the station, which is congested daily, based on MASS. |
