Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Due to legal amendments, Level 4 autonomous driving enabling driverless operation has been officially permitted in Japan., however, remote video monitoring is a prerequisite for its implementation. To guarantee the safety of autonomous vehicles through remote monitoring, a robust wireless communication is indispensable. Nonetheless, relying solely on a single mobile connection can result in video interruptions and pose challenges to remote surveillance in areas with fluctuating radio signal conditions. We applied the cooperative infrastructure platform with the ability to control the network based on communication quality prediction results to the remote monitoring of autonomous vehicles. In this paper, we report on the effectiveness of proactive control performed by the cooperative infrastructure platform, which switches to a higher-quality communication network before deteriorating communication quality is predicted.
