Estimation of the Perceptual Temperature Rise for Localized Electromagnetic Exposure at 28 GHz

(in English) There has been concerns about effect of exposure to electromagnetic fields. The ICNIRP guidelines and IEEE standard are the international guidelines for human protection against the adverse health effects of electromagnetic fields. Because thermal effects are dominant above 100 kHz, the limit (restriction) has been defined to avoid excessive temperature rise. However, threshold temperature for the pain and sensation are not enough in the frequency band above 6 GHz.
Our group measured the threshold of thermal perception for exposure from a dielectric lens antenna at 28 GHz. In this study, the validity of the computation for microwave-induced temperature rise is confirmed by comparing with the measured temperature rises radiated. Next, we estimate and compare the measured and computation thermal-perception temperatures at the fingertip using the perceived time of the temperature.
