Application of Joint Transmit-Receive Diversity to A Cellular Distributed MU-MIMO System

(in English) Cellular distributed multiuser MIMO (MU-MIMO) is a cellular system in which a wide communication service area is divided into a number of base station coverage areas (cells) based on the location information of densely deployed distributed antennas, multiple user clusters are formed in each cell based on the location information of users, and then cluster-wise distributed MU-MIMO is performed in parallel using the same radio resources. Multiuser spatial multiplexing with low computational complexity is realized with the help of the parallel cluster-wise distributed MU-MIMO while ensuring the system scalability by cellular structuring. Therefore, it is expected to be able to construct a practical ultra-dense radio access network (RAN). However, it requires the countermeasure to effectively suppress the inter-cluster interference from other clusters in the own cell and in the surrounding cells. So far, we have proposed the minimum mean square error (MMSE) pre/post-coding assuming single-antenna users, which enables multiuser spatial multiplexing and inter-cluster interference suppression. In this paper, we propose MMSE post-coding combined with joint transmit/receive diversity (JTRD) assuming multiple-antenna users. Through computer simulations, we compare the uplink user capacity achievable by MMSE post-coding combined with JTRD and that combined with eigenmode transmission and clarify the effectiveness of JTRD in a high user density environment.
