In this study, we attempted to improve decoding ability in brain activity during visual stimulation by using feature values included in resting-state brain activity. Electroencephalography (EEG) recordings were conducted during both periods of resting-state and visual stimulus presentation. Subsequently, we employed an unsupervised learning approach, known as the Contrastive Variational Autoencoder (CVAE), to contrast latent variables. The results showed that the resting state data contributed to the decoding of the visual stimuli. This suggests that the resting state data contains features common to the stimulated state and can be used for decoding. Furthermore, as we manipulated the proportion of resting-state data, we observed an enhancement in the separability of stimuli with an increasing proportion of resting data. In the future, increasing the amount of data at resting-state may lead to further improvement of decoding capabilities. |
