Crafting Golden Prompts for Improving Writing Tools

Over the months in 2023, the World have been captivated by a series of newly-
released AI tools which may reshape the landscape of language learning. Notably,
ChatGPT engages users in multi-turn dialogues, answering questions and responds to
requests for information and assistance. Unlike earlier AI technologies, these
responses are more effective, if prompts (a.k.a. questions and requests) are well
thought out, as highlighted by recent research in Prompt Engineering (ref.).
This presentation will share insights from our experience in crafting golden prompts
to leverage ChatGPT in the development of writing assistance tools. Additionally, we
will showcase prototype systems designed to assist learners in improving their essay
writing skills. This system offers suggestions to enhance grammaticality, logic, word
choice, collocation, and organization, as well as comprehensive explanations for the
suggested edits. |
