A Study on Partition of Unity Finite Element Method Using Adaptive Reference Wavevector

(in English) Finite element method (FEM), which is widly used for optical waveguide analysis, has excellent adaptability to arbitrary device structures and can analyze accurately by increasing the number of discretization.
On the other hand, electromagnetic field in simulation domain is approximated by polynomials in standard FEM, then, a large computational cost is required to express the wave propagation.
To solve the problem, partition of unity finite element method (PUFEM) has been proposed.
PUFEM, in witch the shape functions are enriched considering wave propagation, is able to analyze efficiently by reducing the required unknowns.
However, the computational accuracy depends on the value of wavenumber in the shape functions.
In this paper, we improve the numerical accuracy by calculating the reference wavenumber which is calculated iteratively and utilizing the reference wavenumber of propagation direction.
