Properties of Bi0.5(Na0.8K0.2)0.5TiO3 ceramics fabricated from mixed powders containing two compositions

(in English) Sodium potassium bismuth titanate (Bi0.5(Na0.8K0.2)0.5TiO3: BNKT80) is one of the lead-free piezoelectric materials expected as an alternative to lead zirconate titanate (PZT). Mixtures of Bi0.5(Na0.8+0.01xK0.2-0.01x)0.5TiO3 (BNKT80+x) and Bi0.5(Na0.8-0.01xK0.2+0.01x)0.5TiO3 (BNKT80-x) (x=4, 5, 10) powders were used in order to improve the properties of BNKT80 ceramics. As a result, d33=164pC/N was obtained for BNKT80±5, which had more significant grain growth than the other mixed powders (x=4, 10). This d33 value was higher than that of BNKT80 from single phase powder. In addition, BNKT±x ceramics showed higher depolarization temperature, Td than BNKT80. The highest Td was 191℃ for BNKT80±5.
