In recent years, LiDAR technology has emerged as a crucial component for developing autonomous driving and ADAS. Due to its high luminous flux density compared to radio waves, LiDAR enables accurate object detection and shape recognition, providing real-time responses to dynamic road conditions. However, sensor placement can create blind spots, hindering recognition due to obstructions from other vehicles or buildings. This paper proposes a method for dynamically generating wide-area maps to address these blind spots. Vehicles equipped with LiDAR form a VANET and share the acquired point cloud data. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulation experiments were conducted using Matlab, Simulink, and Unreal Engine4. The point cloud maps generated by multiple LiDARs were integrated into a single map on a simulated road with blind spots, and the match rate with the actual terrain was evaluated. |
