Impact of repost of opposing information on opinion polarization

(in English) The main cause of opinion polarization in social media is that the frequency of contact with opinions that are close to one's own increases due to recommendation systems and confirmation bias, reducing exposure to different viewpoints. However, there are also psychological effects such as the backfire effect, in which people feel repulsion when they come into contact with conflicting information, thereby strengthening their own opinions. The method of utilizing this effect to criticism from fellow users by daring to re-post conflicting information is called the hate-linking strategy. Although it has been reported that the rate of re-posting is relatively high among conflicting communities by analyzing actual data, the effect of re-posting on opinion formation has not yet been clarified. In this paper, we propose a model that extends the opinion formation model we have proposed in the past by incorporating a hate-linking strategy. Numerical experiments are conducted to clarify the relationship between the opinion formation dynamics and the probability of re-posting conflicting information.
