Recently, numerous in-home activity recognition methods using radio waves have been proposed. Specifically, methods have been developed to capture changes in the radio wave environment that occur due to human activities, utilizing WiFi Channel State Information (CSI) and tags that perform backscatter communication. However, these methods face challenges in practical application to real-life living environments, including model environmental dependency and coexistence with other communication channels. Additionally, their performance in noisy environments with numerous obstacles and radio waves has not been sufficiently verified. Therefore, this study investigates the extent to which activity recognition using backscatter tags is possible with accuracy in an actual living environment. Implementing a system composed of WiFi transceivers, backscatter tags, and an activity recognition model in the NAIST Smart Home, a replicated real-life environment, and conducting activity recognition experiments, we achieved a recognition accuracy of 92.6% for seven types of in-home living activities. |
