Connected vehicles, equipped with wireless communication capabilities, can utilize data detected by vehicle sensors not only within the vehicle itself but also in the cloud and at the network edge. For such vehicles, low latency and reliable upload communication are important requirements. However, data transmission over TCP may experience delays and throughput degradation, especially as moving vehicles significantly alter the propagation environment. In contrast, QUIC is emerging as a promising new transport protocol. Despite expectations of QUIC's superiority over TCP, current studies assessing QUIC's performance in vehicular environments are insufficient. This report aims to evaluate QUIC's performance in a vehicular context by comparing it with TCP to investigate QUIC's performance characteristics over mobile networks in driving scenarios. Our findings indicate that the file upload test results demonstrate an improvement in TAT with QUIC compared to TCP. Additionally, the results demonstrate an enhancement in TAT with QUIC over mobile networks, particularly when GSO is enabled. |
