Learning and inference in the network of units with multi-dimensional internal states

(in English) We explore a network consisting of elements with multidimensional states.
The element is referred to as a brick, which is developed from a model unit with one dimensional discrete multi-value, and is generalized to a multidimensional vector so that each component takes on continuous values. This enables differentiation of various variables and the use of an automatic differentiation function, making it easy to train networks of bricks. The brick is considered as a simplified neuronal model with dendritic information processing. We conducted simple computer experiments on learning and inference with these bricks. We show that the results exhibits curious phenomena such as the model can learn tasks even though 1) the number of network parameters is small,
2) the output value of each brick is one-dimensional.
