Anomaly Detection for Lung CT Images Using VQ-VAE with SVDD

(in English) In this study, VQ-VAE with SVDD for anomaly detection in CT images was constructed by introducing a support vector data description to a vector quantised-variational autoencoder. Our database consisted of CT images obtained from 800 patients: 150 abnormal and 650 normal cases. VQ-VAE with SVDD was constructed from two encoders/decoders and a embedding space. The first encoder compressed the input image into latent variables. The second encoder then mapped the normal latent variables into a hypersphere as small as possible on the latent space with SVDD. The first decoder up-sampled the mapped latent variables to their original size, whereas the second decoder reconstructed the input image from the embedded representation corresponding to the latent variables. The AUROC with the proposed method was 0.73, showing an improvement when compared with a conventional variational autoencoder (0.58).
