GEO-targeting, a type of marketing based on the user's location, has been considered, and there is a growing demand for accurate estimation of the location of terminals, even indoors. As a simple scheme, a technique to estimate the location of a terminal from the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) has been studied. This report considers location estimation using the number of observed packets by a terminal in addition to RSSI. The number of packets a terminal sends to an access point (AP) increases as the distance between the terminal and AP increases due to retransmissions. RSSI varies depending on the positional relationship between the observer and the terminal but is independent of the observer's position. Therefore, we aim to improve location estimation accuracy by using RSSI and the number of observed packets and discuss the relationship between the number of observed packets and the terminal's location through actual measurements. |
