Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) We have been developing a spatial haptic-guidance presentation system that allows visually impaired individuals to quickly grasp three-dimensional information such as educational materials and art works, as well as convey the trajectory of objects moving in 3-D space, such as a sports ball. By using passive haptic-guidance in which a finger is mechanically pulled in space, this system aims to support understanding of the contents of 3-D educational materials, that is difficult to convey by ordinary free touch alone, and to directly convey the movement and trajectory of moving objects in real time. In this report, we evaluated the effects of induction conditions that factor in the velocity of spatial haptic induction and the dwell time at a moving position on positional accuracy when reproducing the haptically induced spatial position based on proprioception. As a result, it was found that the average error in reproduction immediately after induction was about 30 to 40 mm. Additionally, there is a tendency of interaction between induction velocity and dwell time, suggesting the existence of an appropriate induction velocity, and we obtained a guideline for haptic guided induction conditions that reduce the error of spatial positions on the recognition and reproduction.
