Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) The information provided by a HUD (head up display), a device that displays instrumentation information as an imaginary image through the windscreen of a vehicle, becomes blurred when it vibrates in response to road conditions, which is expected to lead to discomfort for the driver. To solve this problem, it is desirable to provide stable visual information with vibration compensation. In this study, the effects on the human body of the presence or absence of a vibration compensation function on the visual presentation in a HUD were evaluated mainly by EEG analysis. The analysis methods used were α/β, which is the ratio of the power values of α and β waves during eye closure to evaluate comfort, and AAC (alpha attenuation coefficient), which is the ratio of the power values of α waves during eye opening and eye closing to evaluate brain arousal. The results suggest that the vibration compensation function makes driving comfortable and maintains brain alertness.
