Sub-Terahertz illusion metasurfaces using a stretchable elastic substrate with dynamic anomalous reflection beam shaping functionality

(in English) We propose illusion meta-anomalous reflectors that dynamically controls both the angle and width of the reflected beam simultaneously using a stretchable substrate. Design formulas to simultaneous control of the angle and width of the reflected beam are derived analytically based on the geometric optics. Based on the proposed theory, illusion metasurfaces are designed at the 140 GHz band for the normal incident plane wave under the two conditions with 1) the beam width of 10 deg, 20 deg, and 30 deg for a normal incident wave, and 2) the beam width of 10 deg and several reflected angles from –40 deg to 40 deg. The anomalous reflection beam shaping operations are in good agreement with the theory and the validity of the proposed theory is confirmed. Furthermore, we propose an implementation method of the proposed illusion meta-anomalous reflector. An illusion meta-anomalous reflector is implemented based on the proposed method at 140 GHz band for a normal incident wave with the reflected angle of 0 deg. It is shown that the reflected beamwidth can be dynamically controlled from 16 deg to 1 deg with the stretch up to 200%.
