Detection Method for Indoor Autonomous Mobile Robot Movement Based on Moving Variance of Phase Difference

(in English) The Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) is currently discussing a new network for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). One use case is the detection and collision avoidance of autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) in factories. We are developing a system that collects wireless signals from LTE/5G base stations by applying the Open Air Interface, an LTE/5G OSS, to software-defined radio to determine the effectiveness of wireless sensing use cases. In the current study, we assumed a use case of detecting human and AMR movements to avoid collision in a smart factory and evaluated the number of round trips and the direction of the AMR in an indoor environment. Specifically, we calculated the moving variance based on the phase difference of the channel state information (CSI) measured by the developed system and confirmed the possibility of sensing the velocity and the period of the reciprocating motion of the AMR.
