In recent years, driver conditions have been monitored using biometric signals to prevent traffic accidents. One such system is the smart seatbelt buckle (SSB), which incorporates a sensor device in the seatbelt buckle to measure respiration. However, there is a problem that breathing information cannot be extracted correctly due to body movements during driving. In this study, we proposed a method to determine whether a certain interval of SSB signals can be used as a respiratory waveform (i.e., whether respiratory features can be extracted properly) using machine learning, and evaluated the effectiveness of the method through experiments using a driving simulator. As a result, the method was able to determine with an accuracy of approximately 80% whether or not the SSB signal had a disturbance in a certain section. |
