This study reports the results of an experiment using an autonomous drone to pollinate pear flowers. The positioning accuracy of a drone is important to realize automatic pollination by drones. In this study, we used the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS), which receives signals from satellites to estimate its own position, and Real Time Kinematic (RTK), which performs positioning correction by a ground station, to achieve positioning on the order of several centimeters in an orchard. The method used in this study is based on the Real Time Kinematic (RTK) method, in which RTK is corrected by a ground station. For flower location estimation, we used a depth camera to collect 3D image data, which was used in conjunction with the drone's positioning to obtain flower coordinates. These are used to search for flowers, and by patrolling the orchard, the coordinates of flowers suitable for pollination are estimated. Then, the drone equipped with the pollen tank and the sprayer flies to the flower coordinates and sprays pollen automatically. In this paper, we report on experiments conducted during the flowering period of pears to confirm the sequence of these operations. |
