With the spread of Internet of Things (IoT) devices, the use of wireless communications is expanding. Conventional device authentication using digital information has a problem of spoofing by malicious devices. Dealing with this problem, device identification using individual differences due to Radio Frequency (RF) imperfection has been studied. In our previous work, the device identification model using Power Amplifier (PA) nonlinearity was proposed, and its effectiveness on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) signal was demonstrated by the experiment using USRP2. In this work, we measured the OFDM signals transmitted from an IEEE 802.11a compliant USB Wi-Fi dongle, and applied our proposed device identification model to the signals to evaluate its effectiveness. The results showed that the maximum identification accuracy of 82.5 percent was achieved by properly defining the maximum order of the estimated nonlinear coefficients. |
