LLM multilingual comparison in intent understanding tasks

(in English) The authors aim to develop a large language model capable of reading intentions by integrating large language models with cognitive architectures. Their evaluation experiment demonstrates that large language models, when integrated with cognitive architectures, can read intentions. However, the fact that the prompts were written in Japanese may have significantly influenced the results. It has been reported that there are differences in the degree to which communication cultures in various countries consider the context shared within the community. Therefore, in large language models, the language used to create prompts may affect intention understanding. In this study, the authors conducted experiments using large language models to perform tasks requiring intention reading in multiple languages to compare the degree of intention understanding based on the language used in the prompts. The results showed that, within the scope of this experiment, there were differences in the degree of intention understanding between languages, particularly in situations unique to Japanese.
