| （英） | This study reports the results from 2 lexical decision experiments, which tested Japanese native speakers, investigating the interaction of SOA (stimulus onset asynchrony), semantic relatedness, and L2 vocabulary size. In Experiment 1, wherein Japanese words were used for both primes and targets, we set two main factors: Relatedness (semantically related vs. unrelated) and SOA (200 msec vs. 600 msec vs. 1100 msec, each including 100 msec of ISI (interstimulus intervals)). In Experiment 2, we used Japanese words as primes and English words as targets. We also estimated participants’ vocabulary size and treated it as another factor. Priming effects were found in both experiments, with Experiment 1 (L1-L1) showing effects in reaction times but not in accuracy, and Experiment 2 (L1-L2) showing effects in both. In the L1-L1 experiment, SOA effects were evident in reaction times without interacting with priming, unlike De Groot et al.'s [4] findings. The L1-L2 experiment revealed a strong three-way interaction in accuracy, particularly in the SOA 200 condition, where lower vocabulary scorers were negatively affected by unrelated primes, potentially due to their reliance on translation methods. | |
