Analysis and visualization of features in user reviews of travel booking sites

(in English) Facility ratings (reviews) on travel booking sites are considered important as a deciding factor for
travelers’ decisions. However, the number of reviews is large for accommodations with many users, and it is very labor intensive to read them. In addition, it is difficult to find the judgment material of the attractiveness and the problem of the service of the accommodation facilities because the expression and the evaluation standard of the review are different among the posters. In this study, we applied text analysis using a trained BERT model and the latest topic model to Rakuten Travel’s user reviews to explore latent preferences and awareness, and analyzed and visualized the features and issues required of accommodations. From the results, we clarified the features, attractiveness, and issues required of accommodations by exploring latent preferences and awareness. Furthermore, the performance of the BERT model was able to achieve high accuracy, even considering that it was a multi-label
classification task.
