[Invited Talk] Network Technology for SDV(Software Defined Vehicle)

(in English) In recent years, the automobile development environment has changed significantly with the advancement of digital technology surrounding automobile development. Until now, manufacturing and assembly were the main sources of added value, but added value from pre-manufacturing processes such as development and design processes and post-sales processes such as function updates are increasing. In this context, automobile DX (Digital Transformation) is considered to be as important as the electrification of automobiles. In the "Mobility DX Strategy" compiled by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, the "SDV area," "mobility service area," and "data utilization area" are defined as areas of public-private collaboration, and SDVs in particular will be an important foundation supporting the mobility service area and data utilization area. Here, the significance of SDV is that "the provision of new added value, such as improved performance and added/expanded functions of automobiles, and services that are not limited to conventional automobiles, can be continuously and quickly realized through software updates," and the functions required for this include communication functions, OTA (Over The Air) functions, and vehicle OS. In this paper, we introduce the network technologies that support SDVs, including in-vehicle Software Defined Networking (SDN), which is being discussed at JASPAR and other forums, and Ethernet AVB (Audio Video Bridging)/TSN (Time-Sensitive Networking), which are the subject of control there.
