In recent years, the use of radar-based sensing technology has expanded and it has become important to predict Radar Cross Section by measurement or simulation. Radar Cross Section must be measured in the far-field region of the target, but it is difficult to ensure a measurement distance that satisfies the far-field condition for large objects and high frequency. Therefore, one of the methods to calculate Radar Cross Section is the near-field to far-field transformation. In order to demonstrate the proof of concept of this method at a lower cost, we propose to use a ray tracing method, which requires less computational effort than electromagnetic field analysis. The ray tracing method allows analysis not only with a point wave source but also with a plane wave incidence. And a plane wave analysis can be used as a reference solution. In this paper we report the results of the reconstruction of the ISAR image of a radar target and the near-field to far-field transformation using the ISAR image. The ISAR image was calculated using ray tracing combined with physical optics. We also report the results of verifying the effect of changing the measurement parameters on Radar Cross Section. |
