Sodium potassium bismuth titanate (Bi0.5(NaxK1-x)0.5TiO3: BNKT100x) is one of well-known lead-free piezoelectric materials expected to replace lead zirconate titanate (PZT). In this study, to improve the properties of Bi0.5(Na0.8K0.2)0.5TiO3 (x=0.80: BNKT80) ceramics, BNKT80 ceramics were prepared using mixtures of Bi0.5(Na0.8+0.01yK0.2-0.01y)0.5TiO3 (BNKT80+y) and Bi0.5(Na0.8-0.01yK0.2+0.01y)0.5TiO3 (BNKT80-y) (y=4, 5, 10, 15) powders, and the effects of the composition of mixtures on sintering and electrical properties were investigated. The ratio of tetragonal (T) and rhombohedral (R) phases was also determined by Rietveld analysis. As a result, it was confirmed that BNKT80±5 ceramic with high piezoelectric constant of d33=164 pC/N has larger average grain size than other ceramics, and the ratio of tetragonal (T) and rhombohedral (R) is close to 1:1. Although the overall composition was the same, the microstructure and crystal structure differed depending on the powder combination. It was shown that the optimal combination of powders leads to improved piezoelectric properties. |
