Analysis of Individual Differences in Facial Expression Features During Programming Test for Comprehension Estimation

(in English) The spread of the new coronavirus has increased the use of online conferencing systems. However, compared to offline conferencing, online conferencing has a problem of decreasing the level of comprehension of the content. In this study, we aimed to visualize the degree of comprehension of conference participants based on their facial expressions, and obtained facial image data for estimating the degree of comprehension from videos taken during programming tests. We examine effective features for comprehension estimation from the facial image data. Two selection methods were used: one using all Action Units and the other using the top five most important features for each subject. In a previous study, it was found that there were individual differences in facial expressions expressed during comprehension. Considering the individual differences, grouping was conducted, and it was confirmed that the accuracy of discriminating comprehension/non-comprehension can be improved in some cases by grouping.
