The demand for public transportation has increased with rapid urbanization. The number of autonomous micro-mobility vehicles is expected to rise in response to labor shortages, an aging population, and the goal of decarbonization. Digital twin technology is expected to play a key role in enabling numerous autonomous micro-mobility vehicles to coexist. To build a digital twin, the construction of a LiDAR sensor network on the infrastructure side is being considered. Additionally, offloading the computational capabilities of on-board computers in autonomous micro-mobility vehicles to the infrastructure is under exploration. However, load balancing for the outsourced autonomous driving processing on the infrastructure side has not been considered. To solve this issue, we present a load balancing system that reduces processing latency during simultaneous connections from multiple vehicles to redundant edge computers. In the evaluation experiments of the presented system, its effectiveness was demonstrated by load balancing the autonomous driving tasks of multiple micro-mobility vehicles operating in a simulated environment across several edge computers. This report demonstrates that the presented system effectively balances the load of autonomous driving tasks, allowing stable execution without a reduction in processing speed, even in environments with a high density of autonomous micro-mobility vehicles. |
