Estimating Locations from SNS Images Using Shizuoka Prefecture's 3D Point Cloud Data

(in English) The purpose of this study is to develop an SNS image location estimation system envisioned for use by disaster response headquarters. A digital twin was constructed using the publicly available Shizuoka Prefecture point cloud data, and the system aims to estimate the location of SNS images by comparing them with virtual images generated from the digital twin. The study focuses on a limited target area, where 600 SNS images were captured. Virtual images of the same locations as the SNS images were created using the Tokyo Digital Twin Viewer (β version). Location estimation was performed by comparing one SNS image with 600 virtual images using LPIPS to calculate similarity. The goal was to ensure that the virtual image corresponding to the location of the SNS image is selected within the top 10 highest similarity rankings.
